Water Resistant Leather Handbags and Tote Bags to beat the UK Weather

The majority of leather handbags and tote bags do not like to get wet. Moisture of any kind such as rainwater, can cause the natural dyes in the leather to run. It can leave unsightly patches in the surface of the leather known as water marks or tide lines. Rainwater can alter the suppleness of leather, causing it to eventually become brittle and crack. Dampness encourages molds and fungus to grown.

Genuine leather is porous and because of that it cannot be 100% waterproof. However, we have developed some designs with a special water resistant coating which should help you negotiate the wet British weather. We call this type of leather Saffiano.

Leather Handbags and Totes that can cope with Wet British Weather

 Rainwater splashes will simply run off the surface of Saffiano leather; a textured leather with a cross-hatch pattern made from genuine cow hide. It is created by being pressed firmly with a machine then finished with a special wax treatment that makes it resistant to stains, scratches and rain drops.
